I tried him in a snaffle... He seemed quite relaxed but needed a lot more contact, especially in the trot.  Having looked at the photos from the clinic I thought my stirrups looked a bit short.  So I rode without them for a while and then dropped them a hole when I took them back.  I think that's better.

I tried very hard to remember all Bento's advice on my position.
